Rick Moranis On Board For Honey, I Shrunk the Kids Reboot

Rick Moranis is taking on his first movie role in 20 years. The actor announced that he’s returning to the Honey, I Shrunk The Kids sequel. Moranis also starred in The Flinstones, Ghostbusters, Little Shop of Horrors, and Parenthood for most of the 80s and 90s. But he took a break from acting in 1997. Moranis’ wife died six years earlier. He found himself struggling to balance acting and being a single parent. He quit acting to focus on his family instead.
However, Moranis did make time to do voice acting for movies such as Disney’s Brother Bears movie. He took a break from on-screen acting. Back in 2005, Moranis explained the reason behind his 23-year hiatus. “I’m a single parent, and I just that it was too difficult to manage to raise my kids and doing the traveling involved in making movies,” he told USA Today at the time. “So, I took a little bit of a break. And the little bit of a break turned into a longer break, and then I found that I really didn’t miss it.”
Moranis even declined to be part of the all-female Ghostbusters reboot and Ghostbusters: Afterlife. He told The Hollywood Reporter that he didn’t find the movie appealing. He’s only interested in doing films that he finds interesting. Fans will be happy to hear that he will reprise his role as Wayne Szalinski for the upcoming film titled Shrunk. According to BBC News, Moranis will also appear in the upcoming Martin Scorsese-directed Netflix documentary titled An Afternoon With SCTV.
SCTV is abbreviated for Second City Television, which is a sketch comedy show that features Moranis and other actors who got their big break between 1976 and 1984. Fans will be happy to see a lot more of Moranis this year. His presence brings back those feelings of nostalgia and is similar to see familiar friends return again. Now that his kids are grown, Moranis can make his foray into acting again.
