Wheel Of Fortune fans slammed Pat Sajak as losing it before he retired, but then they snarked about his replacement, Ryan Seacrest. Nevertheless, Season 42’s premiere saw a huge jump in the ratings. Does that mean that Kelly Ripa’s former co-host can relax about his job? Read on to find out.
WOF Fans Have Been Unkind To Ryan Seacrest
The American Idol host who also appeared with Kelly Ripa on Live with Kelly and Ryan got many Emmy nominations over the years. And mostly, fans adored him for decades. But, some folks were angry when he split from much younger Aubrey Paige. Perhaps that accounted for some of the downturn in his popularity.
Suffice it to say, that despite Vanna White and Ryan pushing Wheel of Fortune hard, the host still gets a lot of shade thrown at him. Some people simply hate change and they resent the rumors that Pat Sajak was allegedly bullied off the WoF show. But, with good ratings, does the game show host need to worry?
Great Ratings Does Not Mean Safety For Game Show Host?
The Sun reported that the Wheel of Fortune got fantastic ratings when Season 42 premiered. The outlet noted, that Ryan and Vanna White got “a 57% increase from the season 41 premiere, which had a 2.94 household rating when Pat [Sajak] was still hosting.” However, in the same article, the outlet reported that a source spilled that the new host might be under threat from Pat Sajak.
If you don’t know, The Sun revealed that Pat Sajak remains a consultant for WoF, and allegedly, that happened because he’d be easily employable on other game shows. Plus, an insider claimed that Pat won the “recent Outstanding Game Show Host Emmy Award” which means the showrunners might rue the day they retired him.
Game Show Job Threatened By Pat Sajak?
Naturally, that makes some folks think that Pat Sajak’s possible return could pose a massive threat to Ryan Seacrest. Certainly, it seems that Kelly Ripa’s former co-host can’t afford to drop the ball on Wheel of Fortune. The insider elaborated, saying:
The elephant in the room here is that Pat is healthy – sharp, and still has this massive international following…Of course, Pat lingering around also has the added benefit of keeping Ryan in line and focused on maintaining the show’s decades of ratings success. A serious slip in the numbers could prompt a panic that puts Pat back in the hosting seat.
