Whoopi Goldberg Will Set A Record When She Returns On ‘The View’ For An 18th Consecutive Season

‘The View’ really has a solid history of attracting the best hosts. Since its premiere in 1997, the show has managed to go through 24 co-hosts, including current panelists Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin, Alyssa Farah Griffin and Ana Navarro.

And this year, a special someone – Whoopi – will be setting a record for the longest serving consecutive host for the hit show. I know what you’re thinking; didn’t Joy Behar serve for longer?

Indeed she did, but she was fired after Season 16, before being reinstated in season 19, thereby breaking her consecutive run. In total, Behar has appeared in 26 seasons of the show.

“We’ve been here for 27 years. I was here for all of it, except for two, when they canned me. They sacked my behind,” Behar previously shared. Happily the past has been kept where it belongs; in the past.

Whoopi joined the show in its 11th season and has been a mainstay since her debut in 2007. At the time, she served as a replacement for Rosie O’Donnell during her initial departure.

This year, when the show returns for its 28th season on Tuesday, Sept. 3, Whoopi will break a record previously set by the series’ creator, the late, amazing Barbara Walters, who stayed through Season 17.

Whoopi has gone on to become one of the show’s most beloved hosts, drawing in fans due to her blend of humor and no-nonsense attitude.
