Supernatural talks about the journey of Sam and Dean Winchester. The brothers traveled throughout America to save people from demons. The final season will feature their most powerful nemesis yet, God himself. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, production is on a halt. The rest of the season is up in the air. Entertainment Weekly spoke with the cast and crew of the popular series. The outlet also spoke with CW chairman and CEO Mark Pedowitz, who claims the series has inspired the network.
“Supernatural is a major link to many of the shows that we have successfully built to market,” he said. “Almost every one of our shows has had it as a lead-out or a lead-in.”
Supernatural was moved around a lot throughout its tenure. It’s one of the few shows that had to air on each weeknight. One of the shows that it directly helped was Arrow, which has ended its final season. Another show was The Vampire Diaries, which borrowed off the success of Supernatural. However, the show ended after only eight seasons.
Supernatural Season 15 airs on Monday nights, which has led to the success of Roswell, New Mexico. The new series has found its own dedicated audience and has been renewed for a third season, according to Screen Rant. Supernatural’s existence could be both good and bad. Arrow went on to produce a series of spin-offs, including The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow.
The Vampire Diaries also had its own spin-off with The Originals and Legacies. Meanwhile, Supernatural has yet to attempt a spin-off series of its own. Regardless, the cast and crew should be proud of the show’s legacy. The CW has carved its own niche thanks in part to Supernatural.
What do you think? Do you agree that Supernatural directly contributed to the success of other CW shows? Sound off below in the comments section.
Yes and no. Yes because I can’t see a world without Supernatural in it, no because I think it’s gone on long enough and I think it’s time for it to come to an end. Of course, if Sam and/or Dean die, I will be a blubbering mess; I can’t bear the thought of either brother perishing. If both must die, then they have to be reunited with their loving parents. I like the idea of them ending up with them somehow, preferably in a heaven run by Castiel. Love, Robin
