The Blacklist season 8 spoilers reveal that the decision for Boone to exit isn’t new. It was something the show bosses and the actress both mutually agreed on. The decision also came early on and Boone is already looking for her next project. It is stated that it was known for quite some time that this would be Liz’s final chapter.

As fans recall, Liz wasn’t seen on-screen for nine consecutive episodes earlier this season. That’s about half the season that she was missing. It created a lot of talk among viewers but then she returned on April 23, 2021.

The final appearance for Boone as Liz Keen will air during the season 8 finale, which will be broadcast on June 23, 2021. Even though the show has been renewed for another season, this decision was made before the renewal announcement.

The penultimate episode is airing on a new night. Instead of Friday, we will see it on NBC on Wednesday at 10/9c. The synopsis teases,

Boone was one of the few original cast members that remained on the show. The others include Harold Cooper (Harry Lennix), Agent Ressier (Diego Klattenhoff), and James Spader, who plays the elusive Red. NBC has not commented on Boone’s exit yet.
