Royal fans even thought this could be an episode of The Crown one day. Fans of the show and the royal family, in general, are in for a disappointment. Netflix’s show creator already went without the idea of having a plot involving Meghan and Harry.
Back in a December 2018 interview with Entertainment Weekly, creator Peter Morgan said that he wants to end the show “long before where we are now” to avoid it from becoming “too close to the [current] moment.” Morgan didn’t reveal the exact point when he would end the show, but he knows when the cutoff date is. He also revealed that The Crown will get even better since there’s enough time leading up to the events depicted on the series for the viewers to get a better sense of everything. There should be enough drama, with or without Meghan and Harry.
“I don’t know what there is to say about Meghan Markle at the moment. I wouldn’t know and I wouldn’t presume. She’ll only become interesting once we’ve had twenty years to digest who she is and what her impact has been. If I were to write about Meghan Markle I would automatically be writing journalistically. I’ve got nothing to say about Meghan Markle,” Morgan said
This is a disappointment for fans who wanted to see the Meghan and Harry drama play out on the Netflix series. They at least wanted The Crown’s version of the royal family’s reaction to the announcement that one of their own wants to remove themselves from the family and move to Canada. But Morgan’s logic makes sense. The dramatization of Meghan and Harry’s sudden departure should be better left for a Lifetime movie or maybe even a Hallmark drama. What are your thoughts?
