Netflix’s “The Crown” Faces Backlash Over Princess Diana’s Final Years

This is not the first time that Netflix’s “The Crown” series, which is a glorified version of the lives of the members of the Royal Family, has pissed off royal fans and members of the Royal Family alike. For some reason, millions of people around the world find it fascinating, which I guess gives the producers the morale to trod on sensitive areas.

At one point, the series execs had a spat with Diana’s close friend and confidante Jemima Khan. This forced her to leave her advisory role because she was against the way Netflix tried to portray the late Princess Diana.

At the time, royal fans called on Harry to ditch his deal with Netflix, as the streaming giant continues to make money out of hurting his family. But Harry had, at one point, pointed out that the series is merely an exaggeration of real events.

“The Crown” – To Show Charles’ Divorce From Diana In Detail

I doubt King Charles would be one of the people staring at any screen playing “The Crown”, but if he were, the upcoming season will truly shock him.

There is such a thing as getting closure from the past, but I doubt that seeing an exaggerated version of it through a movie works. But as Charles has now become the reigning monarch – against Diana’s wishes too – a shock of the past is getting ready to reawaken the age-old rumor mill.

Charles will reportedly be portrayed as the older man who married a young and beautiful woman, but then becomes cold, petty and deceitful.

Diana, according to sources, won’t be portrayed in a much brighter light as well.

Royal Source Claims That The Worst Part Of “The Crown” Is That Some Believe It To Be A Documentary

People aren’t always very bright. They feel that once a movie is based on a real-life story, it follows the narrative to the exact. And while “The Crown” can’t even lay claim to being based on the real-life version of the Royal Family’s lives, it’s been cited – by some reputable sources, might I add – as something to consult whenever one wants to learn about the Royal Family.

A TV insider said of the upcoming “The Crown” season: “This couldn’t have come at a more delicate time for the new King and his Queen Consort, particularly as they’re riding high in the minds of the public.

“There’s a sense that Netflix are muckraking over events that took place 30 to 40 years ago, but are still raw for those involved.

“The worst element for the royals is that millions of people around the world will view this series and view it less as a drama and more as a documentary.”
