Remember that sitcom called The Nanny? Were you a fan? Well, we’ve got some good news for you. The original cast of the show reunited which includes Days of Our Lives alum, Charles Shaughnessy (Shane/Drew Donovan) for a virtual table read.
The gang is back together on April 6, 2020 but it’s not in the way we think. Fran Drescher, the creator and star of the show teased fans via her twitter account there was a surprise in the works regarding the 90s sitcom.

Variety reported that “the original cast of the Sony Pictures Television-produced show is reuniting for a virtual table read of the pilot via Zoom, which will be posted on the Sony Pictures YouTube page the morning of Monday, April 6.”
In a statement, Dreshcer said, “Laughter is the best medicine! So, in these challenging times, Petah and I thought, wouldn’t it be great if we pulled together the original cast of ‘The Nanny’ for a virtual read of the pilot? It’s a once in a lifetime Pandemic Performance for our fans around the world who are currently stressing in isolation and could use a real upper! It sure has given each of us a lift and we hope it does for you as well.”
The reunion includes the original cast members which are Shaughnessy (Maxwell Sheffield), Daniel Davis, Nicholle Tom, Benjamin Salisbury, Madeline Zima, Alex Sternin, Ann Hampton Callaway, Lauren Lane, Renee Taylor, Rachel Chagall, DeeDee Rescher and Jonathan Penner. James Marsden is apparently the only original cast member who will be a part of the reunion.
Drescher can currently be seen in NBC’s Indebted, a new comedy which airs on Thursdays on the Television network. She is also developing a Broadway called The Nanny: A New Musical.
Shaughnessy has done numerous television shows, movies and films over the years. He has starred in a number of primetime shows. He is best known to daytime soap opera viewers for his many years as Shane Donovan and sometimes Drew Donovan. He is also credited with the role of Alistair Crawford on General Hospital and Captain Elliot Sanders on The Bay. He most recently played Christopher Plover on The Magicians, a primetime drama. He is the Daytime Emmy Award winner for Outstanding Performer in an Animated Program in 2002.
