Fox recently renewed The Resident for season 5. And in addition to giving the medical drama a green light, the network unveiled the premiere date.

The Resident Spoilers – Will The Resident Take Up Residency On Fox?
Autumn ranks as our favorite season in so many ways. The sight of leaves turning red and orange, the sound of school kids chattering about class (as their relieved parents applaud!), the fragrance of those seasonal pumpkin pie spice lattes (extra whip, please)…
And for TV viewers, fall means celebrating the premiere of many of their favorite shows! So can fans of The Resident toast their fave with a pumpkin spice latte? Yes.
Although season 4 of The Resident showed up mid-season, autumn 2021 will see season 5 premiere. The Resident will move into the time slot that “Prodigal Son” held, following its cancellation.
That switch means season 5 of The Resident will debut on Tuesday, September 21, at 8 p.m. And for those who want to try a new show, The Resident precedes the series premiere of “Our Kind Of People” at 9 pm.

The Resident Spoilers – What To Know About The Resident Season 5
Medical dramas have dealt with the pandemic in very different ways. Some tackled the COVID situation in-depth, such as New Amsterdam and Chicago Med. The latter shows revealed the toil that the pandemic took on both patients and health care professionals.
And New Amsterdam also highlighted the relief some felt when vaccines became available, along with the challenge of getting jabs into arms. In addition, that show looked at the challenges of losing valued staff members and the scarcity of certain medical equipment.
But The Resident approached the pandemic in a very different way. Season 4 took us to a time when that light at the end of the tunnel turned into the end of the pandemic (we wish!).
As a result, season 5 will likely focus on the lives of the doctors at Chastain Memorial Hospital. Past seasons have taken the same approach as ER, weaving the personal lives of the physicians and other medical professionals with their professional challenges.
Cast members include Matt Czuchry, Emily VanCamp, Bruce Greenwood, Manish Dayal, Shaunette Renée Wilson, Jessica Lucas, Malcolm-Jamal Warner, Jane Leeves, and Morris Chestnut.
