The Finale Airs Next Month-But Maybe Not?

The series finale is set to air next month, but one of the show’s stars hinted that it could return once more, despite its recent cancellation.

S.W.A.T. is among several CBS series concluding their seasons in May, but unlike popular shows like Matlock and Elsbeth, S.W.A.T. will not be back for another season this fall.

The show faced its third cancellation last month, having previously been canceled in 2023 and 2024 before CBS decided to continue production.

The two-hour Season 8 finale, which also serves as the series finale, will air on Friday, May 16, following the recent completion of filming.

Most episodes were shot before CBS made the decision to cancel the series again. Shemar Moore has portrayed the main character, Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson, since the show’s debut in 2017.

Although filming for the final season has wrapped up, CBS still has the option to renew ‘S.W.A.T.’ for a Season 9.

Shemar Moore has also reached out on social media, urging other networks like Netflix, NBC, and ABC to consider picking up ‘S.W.A.T.’
