Whoopi Goldberg, known for her candidness on The View, didn’t hold back in a recent episode when she humorously declined a gift from her co-host Sunny Hostin.
The exchange, which played out on-air, gave fans a glimpse of the lively camaraderie between the panelists.
A Joyful Return After The Holidays
As the co-hosts returned from their holiday breaks, they took turns sharing stories of their time away. Alyssa Farah Griffin revealed she had expanded her family by adopting her in-laws’ dog to keep her puppy company.
Sunny Hostin recounted her trip to Puerto Rico, where she enjoyed the festivities and managed to stay comfortable during a blackout thanks to a generator.
Meanwhile, Ana Navarro checked off a bucket list item by crossing the Panama Canal and traveled straight to the studio after her adventure.
Sara Haines spent quality time with her family and even supported Whoopi Goldberg by attending her performance in Annie during the break.
Playing the iconic role of Miss Hannigan, Whoopi had clearly poured her energy into the production, but her quick wit remained intact as the panel reunited.
Sunny Hostin’s Thoughtful Souvenir And Whoopi’s Reaction
Sunny Hostin returned from Puerto Rico bearing gifts for her fellow panelists—chocolate from the renowned Chocobar Cortés company. Excitedly, she distributed the brightly packaged treats, explaining, “They are absolutely wonderful, I brought all of you some hot chocolate.”
The co-hosts examined their gifts with curiosity. Sara Haines inspected the yellow package labeled “Sweet Chocolate,” while Alyssa Farah Griffin clutched the “Chocolate Cortés With Canela,” a cinnamon-flavored bar. Whoopi, however, made her preferences clear.
With a playful move, she slid the yellow package Sunny had chosen for her back across the table and claimed the brown package labeled “Hot Chocolate With Coffee.”
The humorous interaction drew laughter from the audience, briefly diverting attention from Sunny’s efforts to highlight the company’s mission.
The Inspiring Work Of Chocobar Cortés
Undeterred, Sunny used the moment to shine a spotlight on the fourth-generation family behind Chocobar Cortés and their philanthropic endeavors. She explained the company’s commitment to social impact through Fundación Cortés, a non-profit organization established in 2012.
“They are doing such incredible work,” Sunny shared. “To date, they have supported over 13,000 underserved children, youth, and adults. In Puerto Rico, only 1 out of 100 students is considered to have a high level of reading comprehension. This foundation is stepping in to bridge that gap, which is just incredible.”
Sunny also highlighted the foundation’s promotion of art and culture. In the 1950s and 1960s, the company included storybooks in their chocolate bars, inspiring countless individuals to develop a love for reading despite limited resources.
Whoopi Goldberg, after her initial comedic antics, acknowledged the value of the foundation’s work, nodding in agreement with Sunny’s sentiments.
