Whoopi Goldberg claims that her daughter got pregnant at 15 as an act of revenge. She feels that her daughter wanted to become a teen mother after struggling with her mom’s level of fame.

Whoopi became pregnant in her 30s after her daughter Alex became a first-time mom.

She recalled the incident in her new memoir, Bits and Pieces: My Mother, My Brother, and Me. Whoopi admitted that she was shocked to learn that her only child was a teen mom.

The comedian got pregnant at 18, but she believed that her daughter would miss out on having a normal teenage life.

“Years later, Alexandrea told me that she thinks she got pregnant as a teenager because she wanted one person in her life who didn’t know who Whoopi Goldberg was,” she wrote in her book. “I thought she was getting revenge on me for being gone so much. I got it.”

Whoopi Goldberg confessed she was often away from her daughter because of her fame. She booked more acting gigs than she could manage.

Alex would be angry at her for not being home as much as she could’ve been. However, Whoopi wanted to build a better life for her family.

Alex was “p*ssed off” when fans shoved her aside so they could meet her mom. They would also hassle them whenever they would eat dinner at the restaurant. Whoopi shared that Alex was cared for by her mother, Emma Harris.

Her mom brought Alex to the delivery room when she gave birth to her daughter, Amara. Whoopi forgave her daughter and the two remain close to this day.

The View – Discusses $60 Million Fortune

On Thursday’s episode of The View, Whoopi Goldberg shared more family secrets. She revealed who she wants to inherit her $60 million fortune.

“One of the great answers is children learn by what they say. My mother worked her behind off and so that’s why I feel the way I feel and I’m leaving my kid everything that I have,” she declared.

Whoopi’s fortune will go to her only child. The panel discussed whether children of celebrities should automatically receive their parents’ wealth.

Actor Jeff Goldblum mentioned in an interview that he is hesitant to give his $40 million fortune to his sons, Charlie, 8, and River, 6.

“Well, you’re gonna be doing it for them for a while because your kids are very young!” Whoopi Goldberg exclaimed. “I mean, you’re not cutting them out now are you?”
