The View’s Joy Behar Criticizes Audience For Disappointing Reaction

The View’s Joy Behar Criticizes Audience For Disappointing ReactionJoy Behar was in high spirits during Friday’s episode of The View, but it seemed the studio audience wasn’t quite matching her enthusiasm. Never one to hold back, Behar wasted no time in calling them out.

Details About The Show

The show began with a discussion about Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s recent exchange with a British reporter.

When asked about a leaked Signal chat involving Trump officials and military plans, Greene dismissed the journalist by saying, “We don’t give a crap about your opinion and your reporting,” after confirming she wasn’t from the United States.

The comment sparked reactions from the panel, with Behar questioning, “What’s all this hostility toward the allies?”

She pointed out that travel to the U.S. from Europe, the Middle East, and Africa had dropped by 12.8% compared to the previous year.

Sunny Hostin chimed in, noting that some of these regions had issued travel advisories against the U.S., while Ana Navarro mentioned that even Canada has faced hostility from the Trump administration.

Looking to lighten the mood, Behar turned to the audience and asked, “How many people are from Canada? Just clap.” Silence filled the studio. After a long pause, she quipped, “No one.” Hostin added with a laugh, “They don’t want to come!”

Navarro, not one to let the topic slide, stressed that Canadian tourists, particularly snowbirds, play a major role in the U.S. economy. She expressed frustration over the “disdain” shown toward allies like Canada, Denmark, and Greenland, saying it was “vexing” to watch.

Behar Pokes Fun at a Sleepy Audience

After the commercial break, the panel shifted to a discussion on trending slang. Behar introduced a new term: “salt-coating.” Looking at the audience, she asked, “Have you ever heard of ‘salt-coating’?” The response? More silence.

With a playful smirk, she quipped, “No? Okay. Is this audience awake?” That finally earned her some laughter. Alyssa Farah Griffin jumped in to defend the crowd, exclaiming, “They are wonderful!” Meanwhile, Sara Haines joked, “And that was a laugh track.”

The term “salt-coating” refers to the opposite of “sugar-coating”—being brutally honest, sometimes harshly, with a friend. Haines cheekily suggested renaming it “Joy-coating” in honor of Behar’s straightforward personality.

As an example, Behar posed a hypothetical: What if someone tells a friend they’re dating a loser? That question finally energized the audience, who responded with applause and cheers.

“The audience came alive!” Behar announced, clearly amused.

Off the Rails Behind the Scene

The lively energy continued behind the scenes, as shown in an Instagram clip shared by Sunny Hostin. In the video, Joy Behar was seen leaving the studio, wearing dark sunglasses and carrying a bag of snacks.

Hostin mentioned that The Weekend View had “gone off the rails,” with Behar playfully agreeing, saying a colleague called it “the best thing she’s ever seen.”

“It was so nuts. We were a little tired. A little crazy,” Hostin laughed. Behar added, “Everybody was funny.”

Launched in January, The Weekend View offers additional behind-the-scenes content, giving fans even more time with the hosts. New episodes air every Saturday on ABC News Live, while The View continues its regular weekday slot at 11/10c on ABC.
