The Voice Celebrates Its Tenth Anniversary
In honor of the show’s tenth anniversary, coaches Gwen Stefani and Adam Levine, who has been absent on this season of The Voice, are returning to perform during the live two-hour season finale. They will also be joined by an all-star lineup of performers for the event on Tuesday, May 25.
In addition to the season 20 coaches – Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, and Nick Jonas – taking the stage alongside the finalists, the star-studded, two-night finale event will feature performances from musical superstars.
Blake Shelton will certainly not be outdone by his former The Voice coach rival and fiancée Gwen Stefani, who performs “Slow Clap” off of her upcoming fifth solo studio album. To show off his own impressive skills, he will take the stage to perform his latest hit “Minimum Wage” in addition to his collaborations with his finalists.
We will also see other The Voice guests and coaches make an encore on the stage during the show’s closing night. This season’s mega-mentor Snoop Dogg will perform “Sittin on Blades” with DJ Battlecat, while Kelsea Ballerini, who covered for Kelly Clarkson when she was out sick during the Battle Rounds, will make her return with one of her latest hit, “Half of My Hometown”.
Justin Bieber will also light up the stage with a medley of his platinum hits “Peaches” and “Hold On”. Thomas Rhett will perform his latest single “Country Again”, and OneRepublic will wow the audience with their newest hit, “Run”.
Multi-award winner Ben Platt will perform his song “Imagine”, and two-time Grammy Award winner Lauren Daigle will make an appearance with the televised premiere of her latest single, “Hold On to Me”.
The two-part finale will kick-off on Monday, May 24, with season 20’s top 5 artists – Cam Anthony and Jordan Matthew Young from Team Blake, Kenzie Wheeler from Team Kelly, Victor Solomon from Team Legend, and Rachel Mac from Team Nick – taking the stage to perform two cover songs, a new twist introduced this season.
Each finalist will perform a ballad that will be a dedication to someone special in their life, as well as an up-tempo cover song.
On Tuesday, after the star-studded performances, one of the five finalists gets to be crowned the season 20 winner.
The Voice Love Story
Gwen Stefani, 51, and Blake Shelton, 44, met on The Voice in 2014 and got engaged in October.
Blake Shelton has once shared his wish to have his pal Adam Levine give a full band performance at their nuptials. “I don’t know what we’re going to do, but I still say Adam owes me a full-band performance with Maroon 5, mostly because I want it to cost him,” Shelton told PEOPLE in February.
Stefani has also expressed her interest in having Levine perform, but she doubts it would come to pass as they’re planning a simple wedding, with a playlist instead of a wedding band.
The friends have also exchanged banter between themselves regarding Shelton and Stefani’s upcoming nuptials, with Levine once revealing that he would object at the pair’s wedding because Shelton is simply not cool enough for Stefani.
While Maroon 5’s Adam Levine believes that Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani “can’t afford” him for their wedding, he seriously says that he’d be “honored” to perform if they’d have him.
You can see Levine, Stefani and Shelton perform on The Voice two-hour live season finale, which airs Tuesday, May 25 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
