The Walking Dead News: Michael Rooker Will Star In New Show ‘The President Is Missing’

The Walking Dead alum Michael Rooker will become the most powerful man in the world in a pilot episode for the new Showtime series, The President Is Missing. The series is based on the novel by James Patterson and former U.S. President Bill Clinton. As per TVLine, the possible series is about the story of a “powerless and politically aimless Vice President (played by Selma’s David Oyelowo) who unexpectedly becomes President halfway into his administration’s first term, despite his every wish to the contrary.”

“He walks right into a secret, world-threatening crisis, both inside and outside of the White House. Attacked by both friends and enemies alike, with scandal and conspiracy swirling around him, he is confronted with a terrible choice: keep his head down, toe the party line and survive, or act on his stubborn, late-developing conscience and take a stand.”

Rooker is said to play the role of Greg Parkes, a special agent who oversees the Vice-Presidential Protection Detail. He quickly finds out that protecting the POTUS is more than he can bear. In addition to Oyelowo and Rooker, the series will also star Gina Gallego, Janet McTeer, Medina Senghore, and Paul Adelstein.

Bill Clinton, Bill Robinson, Christopher McQuarrie, Heather McQuarrie, Leopoldo Gout, Peckham, and Oyelowo executive produce the show, as per Deadline. Jillian Share is the co-executive producer for Invisible Ink Productions. Peckham is currently writing the television adaptation.

Rooker is known for more than just his role on The Walking Dead. He also appeared on Fast and Furious 9, Guardians of the Galaxy, and The Suicide Squad. He also has some other television projects in the works. Rooker is said to star in the pilot episode for Dark Tower and is currently on True Detective. He is repped by the Gersh Agency and Link Entertainment.
