When last seen in episode 3 of This Is Us season 6, Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) discovers that his mother died. And spoilers reveal that episode 4, titled “Don’t Let Me Keep You,” will reveal the aftermath, per Parade. But Jack’s scene meant more than portraying his character’s heartbreak, shared the actor.

“I’ll be honest, it was a very difficult episode to film,” admitted Ventimiglia. “We haven’t known much about that relationship [between Jack and his mom] after Jack removed her from a bad situation [with his alcoholic father]. We get into some distance that was between them.”

And filming that episode “really hurt me, like me personally,” added Milo. To portray Jack’s reactions, the actor faced the challenges of going from the family “rock” to suffering an “emotional break.” But that new low also will offer This Is Us viewers the opportunity to understand the Pearson patriarch’s past.

And Milo Ventimiglia just might get his spotlight stolen by an unexpected guest star. Camryn Manheim, who took home an Emmy award for “The Practice,” will become the newest guest star on This Is Us. But spoilers in the form of a This Is Us Season 6, episode 4 promo shared just enough to tease fans. Check out the promo below.

As shown in the promo, Jack will stroll up to the door of a home. Surprise! Manheim opens the door in her first appearance on This Is Us. And the actress portrays her character’s mixed emotions at seeing Jack.

“Look who finally showed up. Only took you 13 years,” Manheim says in a somewhat mocking tone. And soon after, the episode promo shows Jack again. But this time, the Pearson family patriarch rises at a church. And as he prepares to give his mother’s eulogy to the congregation, we can see that the actress sat in the front row at the funeral.

But don’t look for the usual flash forward, flash back scenes in the upcoming episode of This Is Us. Milo also revealed that the January 25 episode, “Don’t Let Me Keep You,” focuses on his character. “It’s an entire Jack episode — there are no other storylines in it,” summed up the actor.
