Chatting with TV Line, Mandy teased the fate that awaits Rebecca. Find out what Moore revealed about the final season of “This Is Us” below.
‘This Is Us’ Spoilers: Mandy Moore Feels ‘Sad’ For Rebecca
Bring on the tissues to mop up the tears that await “This Is Us” season 6 viewers, warns Mandy Moore. The actress, who portrays beloved matriarch Rebecca, admitted that playing those flash-forward deathbed scenes takes its toll on her as well.
“It’s sad,” confessed Mandy. “But it’s more of a challenge not to let my own emotions about where the scenes are going influence what’s happening to Rebecca. I don’t want those to bleed through.”
As a result of “This Is Us” writers’ decision to travel back and forth in time, Moore often spends hours in hair and makeup to go from young Rebecca herding toddler triplets to aged Rebecca confiding in her grown-up “Big Three.” Are all those hours worth it in terms of payoff for viewers? Yes, says the actress.
‘This Is Us’ Spoilers: Kevin And Randall Alone With Dying Mom?!
Mandy Moore did offer one significant sneak peek into season 6. Could her sons Kevin (Justin Hartley) and Randall (Sterling K. Brown) end up alone with dying mom Rebecca? Moore hinted about that possibility in describing her ordeal to portray aging Rebecca during her final days.
“But wow, what a crazy journey of going through five-and-a-half hours of hair and makeup to play those scenes with Justin [Hartley] and Sterling [K. Brown],” commented Mandy. That clue follows flash forwards that showed Rebecca on a bed at Kevin’s home. But some spoilers also indicate that Nicky might attend that deathbed scene as well.
“This Is Us” spoilers for the last season also show that the family will need to achieve full acceptance of Rebecca’s Alzheimer’s. And that means saying farewell could mean a mental departure rather than or as well as a physical death. But Moore refused to reveal which will occur on the final season of the NBC drama.
Looking at the last “This Is Us” episodes overall, Mandy did provide one final clue. “Rebecca is on this journey in an inevitable direction, and there’s a lot of loose ends to tie up,” she shared. Viewers will begin to learn what that means when “This Is Us” debuts season 6 on Tuesday, Jan. 4, at 9/8c. Share your predictions with us. And then check back on our site for more “This Is Us” news!
