Fans of TLC’s “90 Day Fiancé – Happily Ever After?” may wonder if Larissa Dos Santos will be able to even get her green card, as she spoke to her roommate Carmen and her father about in recent episodes of “90 Day Fiancé – Happily Ever After?”
Carmen Thought Larissa Dos Santos Would Be Able to Get Her Green Card
Larissa’s roommate Carmen thought it shouldn’t be that difficult since Larissa had a green card before, and Larissa even called her father for $5000 so she could get the green card on her own. However, when she had her green card before, she was with Colt Johnson and he sponsored her – and then canceled it when he divorced her.
However, according to the US Citizen and Immigration Services website, there are rules and conditions which one has to meet before they will issue a green card – and Larissa may not fit into any of those preset categories in her current situation. So what exactly are the categories?
90 Day Fiance Updates – Immediate Relative Of A US Citizen Or Other Relative Of A Lawful Permanent US Citizen
An immediate relative of a US citizen includes spouse, unmarried child under the age of 21 of a US citizen or parent of a US citizen who is at least 21 years old. Larissa doesn’t fall into any of those categories since she is divorced from Colt. The other relative category includes an unmarried son or daughter of a US citizen 21 years or older, in other words, an adult child; a married son or daughter of a US citizen; or a brother or sister of a US citizen who is at least 21 years old.
That also lets Larissa out. There is a designation called a family member of a lawful permanent resident, meaning a spouse of a lawful permanent resident (a foreign national who has applied for and received US citizenship), or an unmarried child under or over 21 of a lawful permanent resident. Larissa doesn’t fall into any of those categories either. Let’s see what the other designations are.
Fiancé Of A US Citizen Or The Fiancé’s Child Or Widower Of A US Citizen
In order to obtain a green card under this status, Larissa will have to go husband-hunting and quick, and she’s not even with her boyfriend Eric Nichols any more unless it is revealed they have gotten back together since season five was filmed. Nothing in her Instagram account reveals any clues that she and Eric are currently together. And although she and Colt had a physical fight and he pressed assault charges against her, she didn’t kill him so the widower clause won’t apply to Larissa either! Let’s go to the next category and see if Larissa might get lucky there.
90 Day Fiance Spoilers – VAWA Self-Petitioner Victim Of Battery Or Extreme Cruelty
Larissa would have had to be either an abused child of a US citizen and under 21, or an abused parent of a US citizen for this designation. It is bizarre that “abused spouse” regardless of having children or not doesn’t qualify. Really it should apply and “abused significant other” or “abused fiancé” should as well, as many couples do live together before marriage!

Green Card Through Employment
Even getting a green card through employment would be difficult for Larissa; one has to be an immigrant worker, but even those are split into preferential categories, none of which Larissa seems to fit into. The first preferential immigrant worker status includes someone with extraordinary ability in the sciences, arts, education, business, athletics, or are an outstanding professor or researcher, or a multinational manager or executive who meets certain criteria.
The second preferential immigrant worker status includes members of professions that require an advanced degree, those with exceptional ability in the sciences, arts, or business or are seeking a national interest waiver. The third preference immigrant worker status includes skilled workers (meaning one’s job requires at least two years training or work experience) a professional (meaning one’s job requires at least a US bachelor’s degree or a foreign equivalent AND you are already a member of the profession) OR an unskilled worker (meaning performing unskilled labor requiring less than two years training or experience).
It sounds like Larissa may qualify under the unskilled worker, third preference status – meaning she’s at the bottom of the totem pole under all the rest. The other categories are physician national interest waiver, someone seeking asylum or refuge (refugee), and human trafficking victim currently holding a T nonimmigrant visa or a crime victim currently holding a U nonimmigrant visa. There are many, many other statuses but it sounds like Larissa’s best bet is to go for the unskilled worker green card.
