Tom Hiddleston’s Audition for Thor Has Actor Cringing

Tom Hiddleston

Tom Hiddleston is cringing over his original audition tape for Thor and it’s kind of cute. This video that has been making the rounds on the internet on Tuesday, Nov. 26 is sure to make your day. However, it’s making some fans cringe. It’s even embarrassing for Tom Hiddleston to watch.

Tom Hiddleston made an appearance on Monday night’s episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, according to E! News. On the show, he revealed that back in 2009, he originally auditioned to play the role of Loki. The time-consuming audition process took three months and he almost got the part. But thankfully, Chris Hemsworth was chosen to play the God of Thunder.

However, Hiddleston never had to audition for Loki. He just ended up getting that part. During his interview with Jimmy Fallon, Hiddleston said that the ad revealed that if “you’ve got blonde hair, you can come and have a pop at it.” He revealed that he never auditioned for the role of the popular villain he’s known for. But he had to audition for Thor, which he admitted was kind of “nuts.”

What’s even more crazy is what happens next. Fallon revealed to Hiddleston that his “friends” at Marvel sent him the original audition tape. Hiddleston was besides himself. Fallon quipped that this tape has “never been shown.” Then they rolled the clip, much to Hiddleston’s chagrin. The tape showed Hiddleston wearing a gray tank top and black pants. He also had a blonde flowing wig on the top of his head.

Hiddleston held onto Thor’s iconic hammer as he recites the line, “And remember, you chose this.” Hiddleston then looks to the camera and pretends to hit the hammer with lightning. It’s the best thing you’ll see all day. While it’s an awkward audition, since there are very little special effects, it’s fun for Marvel fans to watch. Hiddleston comes off as charming in the audition, and it’s easy to see why the producers wanted him.

After the clip played, the 38-year-old actor remained humble. He was also embarrassed. He turned to the audience and said, “I think we can all agree that they cast the right actor.” Tom Hiddleston will be starring in his own Loki series on Disney+.
