The next episode, titled Shades of Gray, will follow Colter as he receives a desperate call from a wealthy businesswoman whose son has been abducted. As he delves deeper into the investigation, he unwittingly becomes entangled in a fierce mafia conflict.

The official logline reveals: “While searching for the son of a well-known New Jersey cupcake chain owner, Colter finds himself caught in the crossfire of a brutal mafia war.”

CBS has also unveiled a sneak peek of the episode, featuring Colter assuring the cupcake chain owner that he will do everything in his power to locate her son. However, his determination leads him into peril when two mafia thugs kidnap and assault him.

What Happened In The Previous Episode “Nightingale”?

In the previous episode, titled Nightingale, the gripping tale unfolded around the abduction of a talented singer named Angie. While performing at a local bar, she caught the attention of a peculiar fan who lingered ominously, trailing her as she exited.

Colter soon learned of her kidnapping through Velma Bruin (Abby McEnany). Despite a hefty $50,000 reward being offered, the investigation took a perilous turn when three men, who had heard Angie’s desperate cries, were discovered dead.

The only witness, however, pointed to a security guard named Benjamin Kinderson (Jim Parrack) as the prime suspect. Intriguingly, Ben shared a survivalist background with Colter, who sought out Ben’s grandmother.

How Did The Episode Play Out?

Ava Kinderson (Deborah Strang), Ben’s grandmother made adamant claims of her grandson’s innocence. She told him that a motorcycle gang was out for revenge against Ben and might have played a role in the abduction.

Colter then arrived at a bar, where he clashed with the gang members. Eventually, he tracked Ben into the depths of the forest, where he stumbled upon traps and eerie carvings; in a surprising turn, Ben knocked him unconscious.

When Colter regained consciousness, he found Angie, who explained that Ben had actually come to her rescue; she had witnessed the bikers murder a police officer who was feeding them information.
