TV’s Biggest Daytime Talk Show, ‘The View,’ Gets New Weekend Spinoff

‘The View’ is taking a huge leap forward this new year and is expanding to the streaming space with weekend episodes. In fact, they’ve got a 30-minute episode on the way that’ll likely show fans what exactly to expect from the spinoff series titled ‘The Weekend View.’

How Will ‘The Weekend View’ Differ From ‘The View’

‘The View’ has really grown on us these past few years to the extent producers feel the need to grow it from just a weekday program to one that will likely reach more fans and viewers once it hits the streaming space.

Currently television’s most-watched daytime talk show, ABC’s ‘The View’ is finding a new way to be bigger than ever before, and the best way to do that is to follow where the trends lead and meet fans on the platforms that are most convenient to them.

The weekend program, ‘The Weekend View,‘ will bring fresh perspectives to weekend mornings starting this Saturday, Jan. 11.

The 30-minute program will reportedly feature the show’s Friday ensemble; moderator Joy Behar, cohosts Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, Alyssa Farah Griffin, and Ana Navarro.

Moderator Whoopi Goldberg will be absent, though she will continue to be present for her Monday-through-Thursday schedule on the original show.

The US Sun reported that ‘The View’ attracted 3.078 million viewers during November 2024’s first week, showing that the show is not only steadily thrilling fans, but is managing to bring new ones in with every episode.

“In addition to having its most-watched linear season in four years, The View is finding success meeting viewers wherever they get their content,” executive producer Brian Teta said in a statement to Us Weekly. “From podcasts to YouTube, and now with new exclusive streaming content for the weekend on ABC News Live.”

‘The Weekend View’ To Adopt A “Different Tone” From ‘The View’

We know that ‘The View’ does not shy away from any topic, be it political or controversial – to be honest, the ladies are not far from stirring up controversies themselves – but, according to Karin Gilford, senior vice president of Digital Media, ABC News Group, and Disney Entertainment Networks, the weekend edition will be adopting a lighter tone.

“We’re following what we’ve seen be successful on ABC News Live on the weekends,” she told Variety. “On Saturdays and Sundays, it’s sort of the more a lighter feel. They’re still covering all the stories of the week, but in a little bit of a different tone.”

The “Hot Topics” segments of ‘The Weekend View’ will cover any segment not covered during the weekly broadcast, with a focus on entertainment news and trending social media stories. This means that viewers should be expecting more celebrity-focused discussions.

The Weekend View will stream on ABC News Now, airing on Saturdays at 7:30 a.m. ET and Sundays at 9:30 a.m. ET.
