UK Series The Third Day Announces Premiere Date For HBO

UK Series The Third Day Announces Premiere Date For HBOThe Third Day is a co-production effort between HBO and Sky. The limited series drama will star Jude Law and Naomie Harris. Dennis Kelly (Utopia) will create the series alongside Felix Barrett. Six episodes of The Third Day have been divided into three episodes titled “Summer” and “Winter.”

The first episode will feature Jude Law (The New Pope, The Young Pope) as a man named Sam, who’s curious about an island off the British coast. He comes across a group of islanders who want to preserve their island.

As The British TV Place reported, Dennis Kelly will write the episode and Marc Munden (National Treasure) is said to direct it. “Winter” stars Naomie Harris (Moonlight, Spectre) as a woman named Helen, who’s an outsider who arrives to an island looking for answers. But she ends up in a battle that determines its fate. Dean O’Loughlin, Dennis Kelly, and Kit de Waal are said to write the episode. Meanwhile, Philippa Lowthrope (The Crown) will direct it.

The Third Day could also include an immersive live audience, according to The Grit Daily. However, it’s a risky for a new drama. During the Naomie Harris episode, viewers could find themselves part of the show. This ambitious event allows audiences to be a part of the story. Since space is limited in the theater that it’ll be performed in, fans at home will have to watch the event to see what happens. What will happen is that fans will watch a live broadcast of the fictional drama play out on HBO.

But anything can happen. What if an audience member yells obscenities or acts inappropriately on-camera? This could work in HBO’s favor, according to Dennis Kelly.

“I wanted to make a series that was unsettling and disturbing but that also spoke to fears that ran deeper than horror. The themes of the Third Day have long been obsessions of mine – it is about loss and hope and how both of those things can distort the mind in surprising and brutal ways.”

The British drama includes costars such as Emily Watson (Chernobyl), Katherine Waterson (Fantastic Beasts), and Paddy Considine (The Outsider). Other stars include Mark Lewis Jones (Living a Lie) and Paul Kaye (Game of Thrones). The Third Day is said to make its debut in the U.S. on May 11 on HBO. The series will also be available for streaming on HBO GO, HBO NOW, HBO On Demand, and participating partners such as the HBO channel in Amazon.
