Why has Whoopi Goldberg been absent for two days on ‘The View’ and what could possibly be more important than bringing us her weekly breakdown of trending news, which she so mercifully does with a side dose of witticisms and sharpness that makes her so endearing? Well, she got on a helicopter and there’s food involved.

It doesn’t take a lot to notice the void that Goldberg’s absence – ‘The View’s’ golden moderator – left on the Thursday, March 20 episode of the talkshow.

Probably why Joy Behar kicked off the segment by apologizing for Goldberg’s absence, saying, “Whoopi is off today. I’m sorry. She’ll be back Monday.” So no show on Friday too? Okay cool, but what was she so busy doing?

The last time we saw Goldberg on ‘The View’ was on the Wednesday, March 19 episode of the show, and after the show, the actress and talk show host shared her big plans for the next few days.

She shared a snap of herself in the cockpit with two pilots and wrote, “Thanks to two of my favorite pilots and thank you to @delta. You continue to make me comfortable. Next stop Italy for ‘Women in Food.’”

Goldberg is set to be interviewed at the event, which will honor 20 women in food: chefs, innkeepers, winemakers, food writers, managers, producers, and hotel directors/owners. Per the event’s organizer Cook, the symposium is dedicated to “women in food, wine, and hospitality.”

Even though she left on Wednesday, Goldberg will likely be wrapped up this weekend to make it back early enough to take part in the Monday segment.

This is not the first time that the ‘Sister Act’ star has been absent from ‘The View’ this year. In January, she missed a couple episodes of the show to enjoy the thrills of Paris Fashion Week.

“I did a layout, a fashion layout, for a company called Ami, and apparently, it sort of went through the roof, so they invited me to come and be part of their fashion show in Paris,” she shared at the time. “Which I’m going to do because I’ve had so many comments over my career about how odd my looks are and, ‘Why don’t [you] have eyebrows and you’re so weird looking,’ and the ideas of what beauty is and what beauty isn’t.”
