Whoopi Goldberg Makes A ‘Whoopsie’ And Guest Claps Back!

The View spoilers and updates reveal Whoopi Goldberg made a “whoopsie” and flubbed up a guest name on the talk show recently. The guest in question clapped back at her and misspoke her name-no, she didn’t call her “Whoopsie” but probably should have!

Here’s What Happened

Whoopi Goldberg found herself in a bit of a pickle during a recent episode of the talk show, where a guest had to step in to correct her.

As the ever-reliable moderator of the popular daily program, Whoopi was introducing a guest renowned for her basketball skills when she stumbled over the name, which certainly didn’t reflect well on her.

This incident was particularly striking given that Whoopi had just unveiled the All Women’s Sports Network (AWSN).

The irony of mispronouncing the name of a guest associated with her new venture was not lost on the audience.

This week, Whoopi welcomed Diana Taurasi as a guest but when it was introduction time, she mispronounced her last name as “Tarisis” in front of the panel and viewers at home.

Whoopi’s Co-Hosts Immediately Corrected Her

All of Whoopi’s co-hosts quickly jumped in to correct her error, with Sara Haines being particularly vocal about it. Eventually, Whoopi relented and let Sara address Diana instead-the moment took a delightful turn when Diana joined the group at the table.

After greeting everyone, Whoopi warmly welcomed her, prompting Diana to playfully say, “Thank you Whippi – I mean Whoopie” (via X.com, formerly Twitter).

This sparked laughter all around, and Diana clarified she was just joking. Whoopi reassured her that it was all in good fun, and Diana wholeheartedly agreed.

Who Is The Guest, Diana Taurasi?

The involvement of Whoopi Goldberg in the founding of the All Women’s Sports Network (AWSN) adds an intriguing layer to the mispronunciation issue.

Typically, when major talk show hosts welcome a guest, they come prepared with a pronunciation guide for names that might be challenging. Diana Taurasi, a prominent figure in women’s sports, certainly merits that consideration.

Over her remarkable 20-season career in the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA), Taurasi has left an indelible mark. Prior to her professional success, she shone brightly at the University of Connecticut (UConn), and as a pro she garnered numerous accolades; a list follows.

WNBA Rookie of the Year Award, 3 WNBA championships, 6 Olympic gold medals, the WNBA MVP Award, 2 WNBA Finals MVP Awards, 5 scoring titles, and the WNBA All-Time Leading Scorer.

Recognition Is Clearly Deserved

Whoopi Goldberg’s role in launching the All Women’s Sports Network certainly warrants recognition for Diana Taurasi. Recently, Taurasi, 42, appeared on The View to discuss her retirement.

Known as “The White Mamba,” a nickname given to her by the legendary Kobe Bryant, she is destined to be a first-ballot Hall of Fame inductee.

While Whoopi, who has dyslexia, may have stumbled over the teleprompter, it appeared that there were no hard feelings between the two women following the mishap. What do you think about Whoopi Goldberg’s slip-up and Diana Taurasi’s reaction?
