Why 90 Day Fiancé Makes For Perfect COVID-19 Quarantine Viewing!

The coronavirus pandemic has altered TV viewing tastes and tendencies. People are experiencing cabin fever, constraints, and restrictions. Something like 90 Day Fiancé makes for perfect quarantine viewing. Sometimes you need a mindless reality show to get you through the pandemic. TLC’s 90 Day Fiancé is a popular franchise about Americans marrying foreigners under limited time constraints.

The K-1 visa gives couples 90 days from when a foreigner visits the U.S. to get married. It has become a guilty pleasure for many Americans. But there are very few shows that feel relatable during the coronavirus pandemic than one about a couple – brought together through an unlikely international connection – who are forced into sudden domesticity. Maybe most couples can relate that right now as they hunker down together.

Most of the Americans on the show fall in love with someone overseas. They typically come from countries like Nigeria, Russia, Ukraine, or somewhere in South America. The love of their life scores a plane ticket to the U.S. on a 90-Day visa. The show lasts as long as two hours, which can easily suck you can in for a while. You find yourself binging one or two episodes per day. It can get easy to lose track. Strangely enough, the show is relatable as it’s based on Americans.

It also provides some useful dating and relationship tips. While watching 90 Day Fiancé, you quickly learn what not to do. For example, you shouldn’t date a guy who catfishes you on Instagram. Or, you shouldn’t spend $100,000 on a woman you only chatted with through a website. It’s a trashy reality show like The Bachelor or Love is Blind that’s easy to get hooked on.

Of course, there are incredible shows like Citizen Kane and Masterpiece Theater on television. But sometimes you just don’t want to think. And that’s what makes 90 Day Fiancé so perfect for the quarantine times. You even find yourself rooting for some of the couples, especially during these times when no one can leave their homes.
