Kirk was the captain of the original series’ three seasons. He played a competent leader who was far from perfect. The Star Trek series also addressed political and social issues during that time. Kirk and Uhura’s kiss was the first interracial couple to kiss on American television, even though it almost didn’t happen. Shatner and Nichelle Nichols nearly flubbed their kiss. They ignored the NBC executives who were afraid of angering Southern television stations.
Due to the flub, NBC was forced to show the kiss across the nation. Shatner was a hero in the eyes of fans, long after his appearance as Kirk in the film Star Trek: Generations. During a Q&A with fans on Twitter, he said that he has no interest in returning to Star Trek.
A fan asked Shatner if he felt a Captain Kirk spinoff series would happen after the success of Star Trek: Picard, a successful streaming series that features the return of another popular character, Jean-Luc Picard. The actor disappointed fans with the following message: “No. I think Kirk’s story is pretty well played out at this point.”
Star Trek fans will be disappointed to learn this news. Captain Kirk has been a big part of the Star Trek franchise for good reasons. Kirk is clearly the heart and soul of the series, and his presence is greatly missing. Star Trek wouldn’t have become the iconic show that it is today without the captain who went where no man has gone before.

I would love to see him come back but the man is in his 80’s. Leave him alone and let him enjoy his life his way.
I am enjoying the new Star Trek Picard series. I always like Jean-Luc
