Worst Cooks In AmericaWorst Cooks in America news shows that Ariel Robinson of Greenville, South Carolina, a past winner of the Food Network show was found guilty of homicide by child abuse and sentenced to life in prison on Thursday.

After a four day trial jurors needed less than two hours to make the decision that Robinson was guilty killing a child. Robinson and her husband Jerry were arrested in 2021 after the death of three-year-old foster daughter, Victoria Rose Smith. In April Jared pled guilty to aiding and abetting homicide by child abuse. The couple have two biological children and began fostering Victoria and her two brothers, aged five and seven, in 2020.

Victoria’s biological great aunt, Michelle Urps, says she noticed possible bruises and markings on Victoria’s body in pictures Ariel uploaded to social media. Urps told DailyMail.com last year, “I knew something was wrong by looking at her social media so why couldn’t … case workers?

She went on to question if they have proper training and started a petition on the Change.org website calling for ‘Victoria’s Law’ which would reform the South Carolina Department of Social Services.

On January 14, 2021 police found Victoria unresponsive after responding to a 911 call at Robinson’s house. Robinson told police that the girl “went limp” after drinking excess of liquid, and she thought the girl had choked. She was asked about bruises all over the toddler’s body, and Ariel allegedly blamed Victoria’s brother. Prosecutors argued that Robinson had in fact fatally beaten Victoria that night and the jury agreed.

On Wednesday Greenville County Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Michael Ward testified that the child was beaten so severely that her blood vessels burst and pooled in her muscles and body fat. “’If we lose enough blood, the heart doesn’t have enough volume to pump,’ Ward said.

Jerry Robinson later told admitted to authorities that the fatal beating was precipitated when Victoria vomited on the way to church and angered Ariel.

Worst Cooks in America News: Foster Care System Needs Reform?

His story was backed up by two witnesses who saw Ariel washing Victoria’s dress in the church bathroom that day. Robinson told Smith, “[The girl] eats too much and makes herself throw up. [It’] a game.”

Ariel won season 20 of the Food Network show ‘Worst Cooks in America’ in 2020 and received a $25,000 cash prize.
