Get Ready for The Gates: Meet the Characters and Creative Minds Behind the New Series!

The Gates spoilers tease that news is starting to come about the new CBS soap set to premiere in January 2025. The Gates is the brainchild of multiple award winning writer Michele Val Jean.

Val Jean is not only the main creative force but she will serve as Executive Producer as well as Head Writer.

In addition, Bob Guza (former head writer of General Hosptial) and Julie Carruthers (Santa Barbara, Port Charles, All My Children, General Hospital) are also joining the team as Executive Producers.

Other names listed as Executive Producers are Sheila Duckworth, Kimberly Doebereiner, Leon T. Russell, and Derrick Johnson. An additional multi-award winning writer will also join the writing team although they haven’t been named as of yet.

The Gates – What is The Gates about?

The Gates will depict tales of an affluent Black family known as The Jacksons. The Jackson will live in a prestigious gated community known as Fairmount Estates near Washington DC.

The family are considered “Black Royalty” in their community and will have plenty of trials and tribulations as their stories unfold.

Here are the first four characters the show is listing to cast. All four roles are considered to be contract roles and actors should be announced sooner rather than later.

The Gates – Who are Jessica and Betty?

Jessica is said to be a Black female in her early 50’s. She works as a psychiatrist at Garland Memorial Medical Center in DC. She’s happy to reach the high standards set by her parents and embodies warmth, empathy and compassion.

Next up is Betty, a Black female in her late 60’s or early 70’s. She’s the family matriarch and a famous singer but success did not come easily to her.

She and her husband, a retired Senator, raised their two daughters. Although she’s a doting mother, Betty is not someone to be crossed!

The Gates – Joseph and Sarah will bring the heat!

Joseph is a Black male in his 50’s. He’s a well-known criminal defense attorney who is considered both charismatic and calculating. And according to his ex-wife Sara he’s also a cheater, an opportunist, a publicity hound and a narcissist.

Speaking of Sara, she’s a Black female in her mid-late 40’s. She’s described as beautiful, free-spirited, headstrong and uninhibited. She dropped out of high school to pursue a modeling career.

She gave it all up to be a full-time mother and housewife. But old habits die hard, bringing about infidelity and revenge!
