CBS The Young and The Restless spoilers and updates reveal while there are certainly a lot of reasons to love a legendary actor like Eric Braeden, (Victor Newman) many fans have said over and over again that they love seeing him off-screen as much as they do on screen. That’s because The Young and the Restless star, who is best known for his role as Victor Newman on the hit CBS soap, likes to tell it as it is.
You certainly don’t hear or see many daytime television or even primetime stars speak the truth no matter how painfully honest it might be, right? With that said, here are just some of our favorite quotes from The Mustache himself. Let us know what you think below.
#1 He Stands Up For Soaps
“The challenge in daytime, in particular, I think, is to go against all the traditional clichés of daytime and try to make it real.”
While it’s long been assumed that daytime television has always been the butt of all Hollywood industry jokes, that’s not always the case. In fact, Eric has always stood up for the industry and made it pretty clear that soap stars are some of the hardest working actors in film and entertainment.
#2 Well, I’ll Be Damned
“There’s no one more willing to do something then an actor when it comes to perfecting a scene.”
Sometimes you just have to say a little or even nothing at all to get your message across, right? Well, if there’s one person that knows this all too well, it’s Eric Braeden himself. His signature line, “Well, I’ll be damned” is one that is repeated often not only on the canvas but by his loyal and excited fans, especially whenever they get to see him!
#3 He Always Speaks the Truth
“Some situations are so hopeless when you look at them from the outside you said, ‘Why are they still married?’”
Eric Braeden certainly is one daytime television star who is a straight shooter, so to speak. He always speaks the truth, regardless of how painfully honest it might be. While some stars often tiptoe along the line of what is and what isn’t politically correct, Eric Braeden certainly doesn’t give a damn, now does he?
#4 He Gives The Soap Industry The Credit It Deserves
“Writing for a soap – writing for 25 characters day in, day out – is one of the most difficult jobs in Hollywood.”
Let’s face it: the soap stars in front of the cameras aren’t the only ones who work tirelessly day in and day out to portray our favorite stories in front of the cameras and to the best of their abilities. The crew, the producers, and the writers are also part of a soap’s success story, too. Eric often gives them credit, as he knows that it’s not only difficult trying to memorize a dozen lines at a time, but trying to come up with engaging, thoughtful and exciting dialogue, too. It truly does take a village.
#5 He Takes His Craft Seriously
“In the end, I’m an actor. I’m paid for what I bring to the screen.”
One of the reasons why Eric Braeden has lasted as long as he has in the entertainment industry (four decades and counting) is because he takes his craft seriously. Sure, some people might consider him to be a superstar, but for Eric, he says he’s just an actor who does his job day in and day out. Well, if we didn’t know better, we would truly believe that The Young and The Restless Victor Newman is as real as he can get, seeing how Eric has done a phenomenal job of portraying him throughout the years.
