There’s also the fact that Cane fought for his marriage to Lily Winters, despite the fact that their relationship was a sinking ship. Above everything else, Cane is truly a romantic at heart and even though Lily had checked out from their marriage while she was in prison, he still fought tooth and nail for their love and their family. Sure, Lily might have moved on and is flirting with Billy Abbott, but at the same time, she might be flirting with disaster. Seeing Cane come back and swoop in to rescue Lily from any potential heartache with Billy would almost be perfect timing.

After all, there was a lot of passion and chemistry between, and seeing Cane light things up on the canvas with Victoria would surely make a lot of people jealous.
