5 Reasons Why ‘Young And The Restless’ Should Cast Greg Vaughan As Dylan McAvoy When New ‘Y&R’ Episodes Air

CBS The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that Greg Vaughan need not be unemployed for long if fans’ wishes for a soap transfer come true. Would you like to see Greg jump to Y&R as Dylan McAvoy after leaving his role as Eric Brady on Days of our Lives?

The jaw-dropping news that Greg is out at DOOL dropped this week leaving his fans to shell shocked. Why now, after Ericole finally pulled it together? Is there just no such thing as a happily ever after on soaps?

We have one way there could be such a thing if Greg jumped networks and took on the much-talked-about the role of Dylan.

The role was originated by General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) and he left after three short years. We think that Greg would be a perfect recast.

Here are five reasons why Greg Vaughan should be the new Dylan McAvoy on The Young and the Restless.

#1 A Proper Amount Of Time Has Passed So A New Dylan Would Not Be Earth-Shattering.

Dylan appeared on the canvas in 2013 and left in 2017. Fans have been treated to Dylan’s story in recent flashback episodes and many are clamoring for his return to the canvas. Let’s do it with Greg Vaughan!

#2 Greg Vaughan Has Prior Experience As A Recast.

Let’s face it, stepping into the shoes of a character who has been originated by another actor is a daunting prospect. For starters, fans are used to seeing someone else in the role and can be very hard on the star who takes over the reins.

That would not be too insurmountable of a problem since fans were divided over Steve Burton in the role, to begin with. Who better to take over the role than Greg who was recast as GH’s Lucky Spencer at one point?

#3 Greg Vaughan has the cred to move from Salem to Genoa City.

Greg came to Salem in 2012 and during his stint earned a nomination for the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor. Before that, he was on Y&R as Diego Gutierrez so any theoretical relocation problems would be a breeze!

#4 Greg Vaughan + Sharon Case = Daytime Drama Gold

Can you imagine the possibilities of having Greg and Sharon Case (Sharon Newman) mix it up on the screen? If Dylan came back it would be for Sharon and these actors could make small screen magic together.

#5 It’s Time For Dylan To Exit The Witness Protection Program.

After all this time surely Dylan’s safety can be assured to the point that he can leave the witness protection program, don’t you think? Plenty of fans think the same way and want him to return and develop real relationships with his bio parents Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) and Paul Williams (Doug Davidson).

Casting this actor and bringing back Dillon won’t make any difference if the writers can’t come up with a mature, well written storyline. Just look at Chance that poor actor and his character have been wasted doing pathetic, childish pantomime stories around the Grand Pheonix, what a waste. No chemistry with grab a granny, ladyman Phyllis. I pity this actor and wish I could get to see what he could really do given a decent story. I don’t want to have to watch another actor being wasted and having to fast forward silly stories that are insulting to fans intelligence.

It's nice that you enjoy him on the Days show. However I can appreciate an actor can grow tired of a character and look for a new challenge as another character on a different show. As much as we enjoy our favorites it must be difficult for them artistically if they find themselves replaying the same storylines over and over. It's difficult to adjust to a new actor taking over a character if that character has been played by the same person for years. Unusually I did prefer Gina playing Phyllis. I don't like Michelle Stafford's Phyllis, bit too over acted like a man playing a female in a pantomime.
