Billy Flynn Exits Days Of Our Lives, Moving To New Role On The Young And The Restless

The Young and the Restless spoilers reveal that in a shocking casting move, Days of Our Lives star Billy Flynn (Chad DiMera) is headed to Genoa City! In an interview, the actor talks about leaving Salem, and why he’s decided to make the move now.

Chad DiMera Exits Salem

Speaking with TV Insider, Flynn confirmed that he is leaving Days of Our Lives and heading to The Young and the Restless. Head writer and executive producer Josh Griffith confirmed the news with a statement published to the soap’s official website.

For fans of Chad and the DiMera family, this is quite the shocker! The actor recently celebrated a decade playing the character on the soap. Due to the Days advanced production schedule, fans will continue to see Chad well into 2026. 

Billy Flynn Issues Statement

Flynn issued a statement to the publication about his exit. The actor said,

“I am grateful for my years at DAYS; it changed my life in the best ways. I’ve always said these stories we tell are like doing a play, and I’ve spent the last 10-plus years playing this amazing character and telling one of the all-time great love stories.”

He added, “… and now I’m excited for this opportunity and to test myself in a new way.”

What About Cat Greene?

Days of Our Lives fans know that Chad is currently being paired up with Cat Greene (AnnaLynne MCcord). It’s interesting since Cat impersonated Chad’s dead wife, Abigail DiMera (last played by Marci Miller).

So, it will be interesting to see what sends Chad away. As fans know, in Salem, death rarely sticks. Perhaps Chad will get a clue that Abigail is alive, and go searching for her.

Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney) did a similar thing with EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel).

Billy Flynn’s NEW Character on Y&R

Now for the exciting part of this announcement. While Chad’s exit is a great loss for the Peacock soap, Genoa City is gaining a brand-new character.

There are no details on who Billy will play on the CBS soap opera. However, this statement was released by Griffith:

“On behalf of the entire company of The Young and the Restless, we look forward to welcoming Billy to the show. He will be a wonderful addition to Y&R’s stellar cast.”

So, let the speculation begin! Who will Flynn play and which Genoa City residents will he get mixed up with?
