Eileen Davidson – Recalls Her Catholic Upbringing
As the youngest of seven children in a Catholic family, Young And The Restless star Eileen Davidson admits struggling during her childhood. And during her appearance on General Hospital star Maurice Benard’s State Of Mind podcast, the Days Of Our Lives actress revealed how that impacted her as an adult. Eileen, who also is an alum of The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills (RHOBH), talked about the burden of shame, according to Soap Hub.
“I was raised very Catholic. So much shame,” admitted Davidson. But the Young And The Restless star credits her time on the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills to helping her understand the impact. Because Eileen consulted a therapist during her time on RHOBH, he shared what he noticed about her reality TV show appearances.
“He would watch the show and say, ‘I am noticing you on camera, and you have so much shame. About everything.’ It was embarrassing to me that I even had the shame,” admitted Davidson. “I was like, ‘I don’t know what you mean.’ I was very uncomfortable, but obviously, it makes me think about it.”

Eileen Davidson – Describes Her ‘Manic/Depressive’ Father
The Days Of Our Lives star also opened up about her father. Because he behaved like a “manic/depressive,” life became “pretty bizarre,” according to Eileen. “And there was so much shame attached to that,” added Davidson. As a child, the actress recalled her father never speaking a word to her for as long as six months.
And the Days Of Our Lives star struggled with the “shame.” Because her parents fought, their neighbors sometimes heard her. “And kids came over and noticed my home wasn’t normal. It was the 60s,” pointed out Eileen.
But the Young And The Restless star’s mother struggled with her own battles. As a result, Eileen was raised by “these two people who were so fragile. So scarred. And they are raising seven children.” But after therapy and personal growth, Davidson learned to find peace. And she even views her parents as heroes.
“I realized that they were dealing with this stuff which is so huge and traumatic,” shared the Days Of Our Lives star. “And it was heroic. And I have so much respect for them. I love the fact that they were able to raise seven of us and work many, many hours of the day trying to support a family of seven.”
