(This article contains spoilers for the upcoming episode of The Young and the Restless, airing Monday, October 13 in Canada and Tuesday, October 14 in the United States)
The Young and the Restless day-ahead spoilers for Wednesday, October 14, tease Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) keeping tabs on Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow), while Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) grills Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford). Plus, Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) will grapple with making a tough decision.
Key Takeaways
- Victor secretly watches Nick
- Nick’s behavior raises concerns
- Adam grills Phyllis about Arabesque
- Sharon faces a difficult choice
- Matt’s redemption remains in doubt
Victor Keeps Tabs On Nick, Although Nick Is Not Going To Like It If He Finds Out
After talking to Nick about the missing former drug dealer and having Detective Burrow (Matt Cohen) asking questions recently, Victor decides to keep tabs on Nick himself—and Nick won’t like it if he finds out.
There is a huge concern that Nick may have taken revenge on the dealer after Marie Kirkland (Jade Harlow) wound up overdosing again.
As far as Victor and Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) are concerned, Nick had gotten way too attached to the woman, and neither approves of her.
As previously reported, Nick’s dark secret has already raised concerns within the Newman family.
So Victor will surveil Nick, monitor his comings and goings, and possibly assign one or two of his men to tail him as well.
Nick’s discomfort with not being trusted is a sure sign something’s wrong.
Nikki is concerned that Nick will start using again, if he hasn’t already. She’s a firm believer in bad company corrupting one’s morals.
Adam Grills Phyllis About Her New Acquisition
Elsewhere, Adam grills Phyllis about her new acquisition, although he’s probably more concerned about Arabesque than her joint venture involving the Genoa City Athletic Club, which she now owns with her son.
She was bragging about both running the GCAC with Daniel Romalotti (Michael Graziadei) and “elevating Arabesque” to unprecedented success, with Daniel and Lauren Baldwin (Tracey E. Bregman) as co-CEOs alongside herself.
It seemed obvious that Phyllis was engaging in one-upmanship with Victor, and so Adam cannot help but try to put her in check.
Phyllis has already been involved in a dangerous business deal that could put her at odds with Victor.
Adam has gotten involved with Phyllis in a few failing ventures over the past several years, and as a former business partner, although a bit shady at times, he’s concerned.
Sharon’s Tough Decision
Lastly, Sharon will be grappling with a tough decision after she and Nick allowed Matt Clark (Roger Howarth) to sleep on her couch while keeping his location a secret.
Matt is someone else Victor wants to keep tabs on, not quite trusting in his redemption, as others who’ve known him for years don’t either.
Victor and Nick had actually discussed previously whether the “new Matt” was for real or if it was just his head injury talking.
And with another head injury, Sharon has to wonder as well.
The situation is especially troubling considering Matt’s unexpected return to Sharon’s home.
Sharon’s tough decision may be whether to continue giving Matt the benefit of the doubt or contact Detective Burrow about his location.
Matt himself has been struggling between his better angels and the devil on his shoulder—which path is he going to take?
Annemarie’s Take
I think Victor is playing with fire by secretly keeping tabs on Nick. I understand why he’s worried, but Nick isn’t going to appreciate being watched like a criminal by his own father.
As for Phyllis, I have a feeling Adam knows there’s more to her latest business moves than she’s letting on. Phyllis never does anything halfway, especially when she thinks she can get one over on Victor!
But Sharon is the one who really worries me. Matt has a dangerous history, and I’m not convinced another head injury has suddenly turned him into a good guy.
Do you think Sharon should turn Matt over to the police, or does he deserve another chance?
