General Hospital Alum Jason Thompson Revisits Dr. Patrick Drake – Is A GH Return Back on the Table?

General Hospital spoilers and updates indicate that Jason Thompson (Billy Abbott) recently discussed his previous role on GH.

He admitted his jealousy over not being able to portray Dr. Patrick Drake anymore; as Thompson approaches ten years at Y&R this January, many GH fans still recall his time as Patrick.

Jason Thompson Took Over The Role Of Billy Abbott As Billy Miller Took Over A GH Role

Many fans who watch both soaps, The Young and The Restless and General Hospital, chucked at the irony surrounding the recast of Jason Morgan on GH and of Billy on Y&R.

A Jason had taken over the role of a Billy at close to the same time that a Billy was taking over the role of a Jason!

Of course, when Steve Burton, who had also played a Y&R role at one time (Dylan McAvoy) returned “from the dead” as Jason on GH, they did a retcon.

The GH made the late Billy Miller a long lost identical twin with plastic surgery named Drew Cain, to explain the obvious differences. The role is now played by Cameron Mathison.

Jason Talks About Patrick’s Connection With His Daughter

Certainly, Patrick has always shared a strong connection with his daughter, Emma Scorpio-Drake (now portrayed by Braedyn Bruner), who is now an adult and attending college.

In a recent interview with Swooon, Thompson expressed his desire to delve into the dynamic between Patrick and an adult Emma.

There are numerous possibilities, which makes Thompson feel “a little bit jealous” that he can’t participate in Emma-related story arcs.

Nevertheless, Jason Thompson is under contract at Y&R and has no plans to leave. He wanted to clarify this to any fans who might misinterpret his comments.

Jason Is Very Happy To Stay Where He Is

“Let me be clear — I’m extremely, extremely content where I am, and I have no intentions of going anywhere,” Thompson stated. “If it were up to me, I’d be doing this for the next 30, 40 years on Y&R, but I still have a deep affection for that character, and I would love to portray it a bit more.”

Thompson reminisced about when Emma was just a little girl and can’t help but ponder what Patrick’s relationship with her would look like today on General Hospital.

Of course, there’s a possibility that GH might recast the role of Patrick at some point, but for now, he remains off-screen with Robin Scorpio-Drake (Kimberly McCullough) and their son, Noah.

As for what lies ahead in Genoa City, Billy will continue to play a significant role in the Abbotts’ battle against Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) and the threat posed by the AI program.
