The Young and the Restless Allison Lanier OUT As Y&R Summer Newman, Actress Confirms Exit!

The Young and the Restless spoilers remind fans that the land of Genoa City can be a revolving door; one minute, an actor or actress is on canvas, the next, they are gone.

Such is the case with Allison Lanier, who plays Summer Newman on the CBS soap. The actress recently confirmed her exit from the daytime drama.

The actress hopped on the social media platform, X, to announce her departure from the soap. In a tweet, Allison states, “Hey guys!! This Friday, May 2nd will be my last episode on Y&R!” (Make sure to check out our next week Y&R spoilers, here!)

She goes on to say, “I’ve loved the journey and learned so much but its time to grow in a different direction … very grateful for all of the Y&R fans who have supported me ”

Will Summer Newman Leave The Land Of GC, Too?

It’s May Sweeps, so with Lanier’s departure as of this Friday, it’s hard not to speculate that something disastrous is on the horizon for her character, Summer Newman.

Summer is a legacy role on the soap, who first appeared on screen in 2006. The daughter of Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) and Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow), she helped change the landscape of Genoa City from the very day she was born.

Over the years, Summer has played a pivotal role in storylines, ushering in the Phick romance when she was young, and as she grew into an adult, she, too, enjoyed super couple status, along with Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor).

In fact, some fans were hoping for a Skyle reunion, but this seems uncertain now with Lanier’s departure.

Lanier has played Summer Newman since 2022 and quickly became a fan favorite, considering she filled the shoes of OG Summer, actress Hunter King.

      I’ve said it all along that this summer is to young to play a grown up woman with a husband and child when she looks younger than the kid that she supposed to be his step mom.

      Glad to see Summer go. Claire and Kyle need to prove that Victor nor anyone else can break them apart. It’s time for a little bit of happiness on this show for a change.

      I do hope that they will recast Summer. I think that Claire and Kyle will break up and Summer and Kyle will get back together.

      I had a hard time accepting the facial remarks. That was way too much for me looking at her, making all those facial expressions. No disrespect, but I’m glad she’s gone.

      I think Allison is a great actress .The writers haven’t written the script that helps her character be as grown up as she should be at this stage in her life . Hinter King had a much better character than Allison has .In the beginning it was great but , drastically changed when she and Kyle broke up and Phyllis faked her own death . I hope she does well wherever she goes next .

      I’m sad to see her go. She made the part her own. I felt she was a good replacement for Hunter. I hope they’re recasting her. It would be good to get Hunter back.

      I am saddened to see Allison Lanier Leave. She was an excellent actress. I preferred her more softer, and likeable version of Summer; however, I think that the writers continued to script the plot for a harder edged, strong- headed version of Summer; as formerly portrayed by Hunter King (also an excellent actress, and a junior version of Phyllis Newman.

      J’espère qu’Hunter reviendra jouer le rôle de Summer , car c’est un personnage important , fille de Nick et de Phyllis . Je l’adore et j’ai du mal avec Allison , elle n’a pas le punch de Hunter

      I am so glad she is gone. She was an envious jealouse person.
      She was only a stepmom to Harrison not a mom. She crossed many lines.
