The project was first made public back in January. Ken Olin will direct the pilot episode and Michael Cooney will pen the script and executive produce, too. Hartley will take on the role of Colter Shaw, a lone-wolf survivalist who will travel across the country in his old-school RV as a “reward seeker.”

Shaw deals with his family issues while helping others by solving mysteries. He grew up living with a survivalist group off the grid. He and his siblings were schooled by their parents and former professors. They were taught the rules of survival, also called The Never Game by their father before he was murdered.

“I couldn’t be happier that The Never Game is coming to CBS, and that Colter Shaw will be brought to life on screen soon,” Hartley said. The actor admitted that he was immediately drawn to the story and character. He’s extremely excited for the audience to meet Colter.
