What are the latest results in the daytime drama ratings race?
CBS has announced that both of the network’s daytime dramas reached their biggest audiences since April of this year. According to a press release, “For the week ending Friday, Sept. 4, YR attracted 3.02 million viewers, and BB reached 2.71 million viewers – the largest audiences for both daytime dramas in almost five months, since the week ending April 24.”
The bump up came at a time that The Young and the Restless focused on core characters and a serious and somber ongoing storyline. Last week Y&R continued to explore Sharon Newman’s (Sharon Case) breast cancer battle and recovery. It also featured her ex who is going through an ordeal of his own. Adam Newman’s (Mark Grossman) drama over his past killing moseyed along, with Sharon being drawn into his orbit. Along the way, Noah Newman (Robert Adamson) came to town and got involved with both Sharon and Adam.
Elsewhere the mystery surrounding Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) ramped up when she presented Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) with the idea that she and Devon’s late wife Hilary Winters are related. They are complete look-alike’s so their relationship is a distinct possibility.
Meanwhile, Summer Newman (Hunter King) and Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) decided to face the lion by telling her parents that they were moving in together. Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) and Phyllis Newman (Michelle Stafford) were not overjoyed but they agreed that the couple are adults.
And let’s not forget that St. Lola Rosales (Sasha Calle) and Playboy Theo Vanderway (Tyler Johnson) kept chattering on about their so-called relationship.
The Bold and the Beautiful also saw a bump in the ratings
Last week on B&B fans watched as Vegas newlyweds Shauna Fulton (Denise Richards) and Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye) tried to have a moment alone without Quinn Forrester (Rena Sofer) and Brooke Forrester (Katherine Kelly Lang) butting into their business.
Steffy Forrester (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) continued to plead for pain pills and a romance ignited for Carter Walton (Lawrence Saint-Victor) and Zoe Buckingham (Kiara Barnes). Will Zoe let Carter make her forget all about bad boy Thomas Forrester (Matthew Atkinson)?

Yes, I am glad ratings are going up but the writers need to write proper story plot that make sense eg Kola break up and people need to not blaming the actors and actress the low ratings when it happens. Some of the stories need more mystery and suspense it`s too straight forwards and people gets bored easily. The one story I was most disappointed in watching in 30 years Y&R was Kyle and Lola break up story because in my opinion it did not make sense. The writers of Y&R need review that story in general. The evidence for that writers claims was absent on screen .
