Andrea Evans’ Family Remembers Her ‘Strength’
After the passing of The Young And The Restless star Andrea Evans at age 66, her manager Nick Leicht shared his memories. “I’ve been working with Andrea for the past 7 years. She was such a tremendous talent,” noted Leicht about the actress to People. “And an absolute joy to work with.”
And Andrea’s husband Stephen Rodriguez, with whom she tied the knot in 1998, described his late wife as “a remarkable individual, cherished by all who knew her. Her unwavering strength, positivity, and indomitable spirit inspired us every step of the way throughout her fearless fight against this relentless disease.” And Rodriguez described Andrea facing all her challenges “with grace, resilience, and an enduring love for life.”
However, the actress’ husband shared that nothing could change Andrea’s strong spirit. And he added, “Cancer killed Andrea. But it did not kill her spirit. That spirit is alive and well and lives on in each one of us, whom she touched.” And his daughter Kylie also expressed her heartbreak.
Reflecting on her mother’s “courageous battle with cancer,” Kylie shared, “At just 19 years old, my world has been forever changed. And words cannot adequately convey the depth of my sadness. My mom was my best friend.” And Kylie described her mother’s “inspiring strength throughout her fight with cancer.”
One Life To Live Star Andrea Evans Became A ‘Daytime Legend’
Many fans remember Andrea for her role as teenager Tina Lord on One Life to Live. And her performance earned her a Daytime Emmy Award nomination for outstanding ingenue in a drama series in 1988. Among those remembering Evans, former One Life To Live exec producer and current General Hospital producer Frank Valentini honored her on Twitter.
“I am so sorry to learn of Andrea Evans’ passing. Andrea was already a huge star when my career began at OLTL,” wrote Valentini. And he described the actress as “always kind, gracious, and so fun to work with. A daytime legend who will be missed very much. My sympathies to her friends and family.”
Andrea also earned a Daytime Emmy nomination in 2015 for her work in the web series DeVanity, And in addition to TV roles including Rebecca Hotchkiss on Passions and Patty Walker on The Bay, she starred in films like A Low Down Dirty Shame, Ice Cream Man, and Hit List. Evans’ husband and daughter survive her. The actress previously was married to her One Life to Live costar Wayne Massey from 1981 to 1983. And Andrea’s former manager, Don Carroll, confirmed that she died from cancer.
