The Young And The Restless Casting News: Days Star Lauren Koslow Steps In As Jill Abbott Temporarily

The Young And The Restless spoilers reveal that Lauren Koslow (Kate Brady, DOOL) will be temporarily joining the show as Jill Abbott (normally Jess Walton).

TV Insider broke the news, explaining that Walton was not available to jump in as Jill at this time and that Koslow would be filling in for her.

Jess Walton Is On Reoccurring Status

Walton has been on recurring status since 2012 and usually travels back and forth between Oregon, where she now lives, and that studio in Los Angeles.

Walton has played Jill since 1987. Since Walton cannot be onscreen at this time, it seems that Billy Abbott’s (Jason Thompson) mommy is about to temporarily get a new face.

Koslow will make her debut on June 25 and will play Jill for five episodes. This will be the second character that Koslow has played at Y&R. The actress started her daytime career with Y&R when she played Lindsey Wells from 1984 to 1986.

Koslow told Soap Opera Digest in 2023 how she felt at the time.

Lauren Koslow’s Time At Y&R

Koslow said, “I was pretty fresh out of college. I was working at a production company, auditioning for plays, and I got into an acting class.

It turned out that Ed Scott, who was then a producer at Y&R, was taking the class to learn more about actors and the whole acting process.

So he got to see me in scenes. [When] I got a call to come in to audition, I thought, ‘What?’ I literally didn’t even think it was real.”

Koslow went on to say that she was “extremely lucky to get that chance” and that when she booked the job, “I was absolutely over the moon. It was a fabulous thing that had happened to me to launch my career.”

Jack Abbott’s Affair With Jill Abbott

Jack Abbott’s affair with his stepmother, Jill, was a big part of Lauren’s storyline back then, when Jill was played by Brenda Dickson.

“The storyline was Jack gaslighting the Lindsey Wells character to get back blackmail photos that she had of him and Jill. Later, I was told that when they started that storyline, they didn’t know who the blackmailer was going to be. They decided it was going to be a woman, and that was how they wrote this story.”

Y&R Impacted Lauren Koslow’s Personal Life

Lauren met her husband, makeup artist Nick Schillace, when he was part of the Y&R makeup team. They married in 1987.

Koslow told SOD in 1996, “I thought Nicky was a little intimidating, so I used to just slip into the nearest makeup seat. One day, he said to me, ‘You need to get into my chair.’ Friendship blossomed into love and then into marriage.”

The duo has two children, Zachariah and Millikate. Lauren spent five years in the role of fashion designer Margo Lynley on The Bold And The Beautiful after her time at Y&R before joining Days Of Our Lives in 1996.
