Speaking to Soaps.com, Rowell explained that Drucilla never died on Y&R, but what happened to her was left open-ended. The actress also said that there were attempts to recast the character, but the audience would not accept that.

Rowell also talked about her fight for diversity, especially when it comes to The Young and the Restless and its sister soap, The Bold and the Beautiful. She explained,
“I have consistently fought for diversity on Young and Restless, I have consistently brought union-qualified African-American card-carrying professionals to the forefront of Young and Restless executives. I am proud that when I was invited to CBS to participate in Kristoff’s memorial the personnel that I’ve never met who are Black approached me to tell me I made a difference in their employment or hiring. So, I rest my case.”

The Young And The Restless Spoilers – NAACP’s Multi-Year Deal With Viacom/CBS
The Young and the Restless actress also talked about the NAACP, which just papers a multi-year deal with Viacom,/CBS. She hopes that when it’s being discussed, that soap operas are brought up.
“We’re looking at an aggregate of 80 years — 47 years of Young and Restless and 33 years of The Bold and the Beautiful, with zero Black ownership of soap operas, zero Black executives on those soap operas. I am proud to have the rich history I have with Viacom/CBS, but it’s not enough to have one or two Black writers in 80 years. It’s an abomination.”

I would love to see Drucilla back we really do need some diversity on the soaps it is about time.
I love her and have been waiting to see her back for so many years. It was great to see her on the memorial episode for Kristoff St. John. I am surprised now to see that her return is a possibility. Definately a reason to keep watching. Recent story lines (before the shut down) have not been all that appealing for me.
By the way, I am a 70 year old white male who has watched Y & R since the beginning.
I love Drucilla!!! I always hoped that since she fell off that cliff and disappeared down the river and since her body was never recovered, she might show up some day. Please let it be so!
