The Young and The Restless Leak: Current Y&R Storylines To End Quickly & New Plots & Stories In December

CBS The Young and the Restless spoilers and updates reveal that big changes could be coming to Genoa City, with the goal of starting off the New Year with fresh storylines and new plots.

The changes won’t result in whitewashed stories, or plots discarded like they never happened, or involve a jump in time like Days of our Lives did at the start of the year.

But a bit of storyline whiplash could be involved if what our CBS inside source is spilling comes to fruition.

According to our insider, the show doesn’t want to alienate viewers by scrapping the current stories or run the risk of turning them off by leaping forward in time.

Instead, the idea that may prevail would be to return to production, run through the current stories as fast as possible (soaps can get away with a lot), and then have fresh plots ready to unravel before fans can sing Auld Lang Syne.

In effect, the show can take a boatload of liberties with plots since they do already and fans are not just ok with it, they love it! I’m talking about back from the dead plots, having an evil unknown twin pop up, and tons of faulty lab work that results in false paternities and maternities galore.

Fans shouldn’t be bothered with a little fast-forwarding through clunker plots if that’s what TPTB decide needs to be done.

The idea of going with such a bold move is to prune the bushes and allow for new growth. Let’s face it, there’s a lot of stale storylines still heaving their last breaths in Genoa City and killing them off now makes sense. Why? Because almost nothing in the real world makes sense right now so why shouldn’t the reel world follow suit? It’s a good enough rationale for me!

Our source wasn’t willing to give up details of who might be affected if such a move is made. But a quick look at message boards indicates fans have had it up to here with the ridiculous hotel competition and think that Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) and Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) belong in the friend zone.
