The Young and the Restless News: Alum Michael Muhney Back In Front Of The Cameras

The former Adam Newman of “The Young and the Restless,” Michael Muhney has joined the cast of a new romantic comedy short film. The romantic comedy movie called “Sidepiece” is part of the International Short Films Festival with a tagline, “Be careful who you tap.” The film is written and directed by Teddy Tenebaum. Muhney was hired as a recast of Adam Newman, when Chris Egan left the role. He first appeared on “The Young and the Restless,” back in June 2009. In 2011, the American actor joined the show under a contract that said he’ll play the role for an unspecified period. He signed two year contract back in 2013 but he was prematurely terminated from the soap opera.

The news that Muhney was let go from the show shocked many given the actor’s stellar performance.

However, in an interview with Huffington Post, the actor said, “Part of me feels this is because I’ve always been outspoken, and sometimes I’ve been too outspoken. Sometimes I’ve walked around with a big backpack full of hubris. That is entirely on me. CBS, Sony, and Jill Phelps are not to blame for that.”

He also revealed that the show’s writers already had plans to take the character off-screen for a few months and then recast the role. There were also rumours that he sexually harassed a co-star but there were no charges filed.

Muhney was nominated for Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his role in “The Young and the Restless.” His other acting credits include “ER,” “Charmed,” “Without a Trace,” “CSI:Miami,” and “The Good Doctor.”
