The unprecedented production shutdown in mid-March came after quite a year in GC. There were many compelling arcs and real-life events that made the Emmy nominated time period, which dates back to last year, rather significant.

Everyone was stunned by the loss of Kristoff St. John (Neil Winters), who unexpectedly died in early 2019. Y&R created a beautiful storyline that honored the character St. John played and also produced heart-warming, behind the scenes tribute shows that allow his colleagues to reinforce the impact of their friend’s place in their lives and relay the depth of this great actor’s talent as well.

It’s not easy to score gold on a series of recasts of one character. But Y&R managed to so with when casting Mark Grossman as the latest Adam Newman. An epic war followed between Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) and his son.

The ongoing Alzheimer’s storyline includes great performances by Marla Adams (Dina Mergeron) and her colleagues who portray the Abbott family.

Michelle Stafford (Phyllis Summers) returned to the daytime show that made her famous. She’s again stealing scenes, while also being noticeably generous to her fellow actors. Of course, there are a number of other solid storylines, involving numerous other cast members as well.
