Billy thought he had a deal with Jesse, whose greed and lack of a backbone turned what was already a mess into a farce. Yet, Jesse still realizes money, pacifies the Newman’s, and exposes his longtime nemesis, Ashland.

Ashland signed onto Victor and Adam’s plan before he jetted to Peru with his new wife, Victoria Newman Locke (Amelia Heinle), in pursuit of better health. TPTB shielded the details of the get Billy plot to create a mini-mystery.

The risk for Ashland is that what he admitted to doing is now public knowledge. No matter what retractions may be forthcoming, based on the ruse that Jesse’s information was deceptive, a percentage of society will believe what was digitally printed.

So, why would Ashland go along with this plan? Well, he, like Victor and Adam, is blinded by his contempt for Billy.

Billy had several people from ChanceCom’s staff verifying the details of this story. He also had the main witness, Jesse, present him with a document that backed what the source, Ashland, previously admitted. Billy pursued due journalistic diligence.

So, unless Ashland was lying about everything, ChanceCom printed the truth. Facts can be verified.

The passage of time stands as a great challenge in confirming what Ashland actually did. But it is not impossible. So, this storyline may not be over, like Victor, Adam, and Ashland believe.
