Y&R viewers know how important it is for Dumas to remain anonymous. As his lawyer, Amanda knows this too.
Not only for business reasons, but there might be other factors as to why he doesn’t want to be in the public eye. Plus, it adds to his persona, right?
While Amanda loves Phyllis, why would she sacrifice her job, which she likely gets paid very well for, to help Red with this? Ambushing her boss would be a bad idea that could get her fired.

The Real Motive
It’s hard to believe that Amanda loves the idea of running Chancellor with Phyllis. After all, if she did, why not pitch the idea on her own to Dumas, whom she seems to have a great rapport with?
Is Dumas in on this? Amanda may have brought him into the loop about Phyllis, who is a good friend, but stubborn when it comes to her ideas.
With that said, will Amanda give Phyllis a time and place where Dumas is, only for Red to hit another dead end? Is this all a setup to get Phyllis to stop bothering Amanda about a meeting with Dumas?
