Instead, the pressure has only increased inside Abbott-Chancellor. Instead, the angst of working with Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) is complex. Lily’s admission was unexpected. But she told Billy about her intention to return to work with her brother and cousin.

Meanwhile, Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) circles Genoa City, Wisconsin. He let his plan to go after Billy be known. However, after learning about Victor’s intentions, Billy’s strategy is part of a revised long game.

Billy knows Victor is ruthless and vengeful. Partial proof includes the Moustache having him and Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) arrested on their wedding day.

Hearing Victor tell Devon Winters (Bryton James) that he plans to seize Abbott-Chancellor didn’t bother Billy. Lily took Billy’s response as naive bravado and later encouraged him to work behind the scenes.

By choosing not to be AC’s public face, Billy is deferring to Lily’s demand. She wants their reformed and renamed company to succeed but is sure that Billy’s heading it would spell impending doom.

However, Victor has multiple plans and intends to take the company that reversed its merger. He assumes victory regardless of what Billy does or doesn’t do.

Y&R Spoilers – Lily Winters Was Picked For A Reason

Jill Abbott (Jess Walton) continues to receive treatment and appears to be making progress with her heart issues. But she needs to be able to lead the company.

So, Billy retains her designated voting proxy, and Lily hopefully remains in place to serve as a check and balance.

Billy also lobbied for Lily to go with him to what is now called Abbott-Chancellor when the business was still merged as Chancellor-Winters. While he loves Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan), Billy still cares for Lily. He likely always will.

Billy specifically picked Lily to co-head Abbott-Chancellor because she still holds a place in his heart. That means the potential for revived romance exists.

The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Billy Abbott Loses Business But Regains Former Love

Chelsea cheated on Billy with Adam Newman (Mark Grossman). Billy is capable of forgiveness, but the eventual revelation of that mistake is primed to break the bond that Chelsea and Thompson’s characters formed when he saved her from jumping off a building.

Everything doesn’t always go the way Victor plans, with the outcome of Jordan Howard’s (Colleen Zenk) imprisonment being one example.

However, it appears more likely than not that Victor has enough in his arsenal to outwit Lily and Billy, no matter who is the front face of that business.

If the above happens and Billy breaks from Chelsea, Lily will be the person he can turn to. Cane Ashby (Daniel Goddard) remains off-screen, and Lily will reel. So, it’s fair to project romantic rebound potential with Billy.
