The CBS Young and the Restless spoilers & updates documented that Cane Ashby (Daniel Goddard) left town to search for his father in November. As fans recall, he promised Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) that he would track down Colin Atkinson (Tristan Rogers) and find out what happened to the inheritance money that was stolen.

The above referenced arc has since concluded. Colin deposited the entire amount of the money that Katherine Chancellor (Jeanne Cooper) left her grandson in Devon’s account. Colin did so anonymously, but left a digital note that implied it was him.

Chance Chancellor (Donny Boaz) later told Devon that Colin had been captured. That should have resulted in Cane’s return to Genoa City, Wisconsin, but hasn’t.

Goddard was surely loved by the audience, which is why his run on this daytime drama lasted from 2007 through 2019. It wouldn’t be fair to say that his star faded and that’s why his contract wasn’t renewed.

Instead, it’s reasonable to suggest that the grind of the soap opera business impacted this longtime cast member. Sometimes change happens when TPTB believe that a character’s plot line has run it’s course, needs to pause for an extended period of time, or involve overall budget considerations.

Neither Y&R, nor Goddard has provided any information that indicates he’s returning to the show. However, the actor recently spoke directly to his followers on social media, saying that he will soon be making a live announcement on his Facebook page about his current circumstances.

Goddard didn’t reveal what his announcement will be about, but said that he’s been wanting to share what he’s been doing with his fans and will soon tell them. He was clearly in an upbeat mood when offering that message, which was good to see.

Cane had taken a position helping former inmates transition back to life shortly before he left town. His career shift was obviously meant to be similar to the work his ex-wife, Lily Winters (Christel Khalil), had been doing. Per her recently acceptance of Jill Abbott’s (Jess Walton) offer, Lily returned to town to co-head Chancellor Industries new media division with Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson).

Lily had no interest in reconciling with Cane when he departed GC to search for his father. She did has mentioned that the Ashby twins were now in college. So, it’s possible that Cane is spending time with them, or has moved to either of the twin’s college towns. Meanwhile, Goddard fans are hoping that his Y&R character will soon come home.
