Y&R spoilers reveal that while Chance was investigating Ashland Locke’s (formerly played by Robert Newman) death, he was consumed with the case. So much that Abby mentioned Chance missing family dinners. Abby also brought up that Chance is rarely home and misses important milestones.

So, when Chance decided to close Ashland’s death investigation, Abby was relieved for several reasons. One, she was thankful that Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) and Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) wouldn’t be arrested. Abby was also looking forward to Chance being home more. However, it is confirmed that during the week of August 29, Chance will break his promise to Abby.

The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Abby Newman-Abbott-Chancellor Fed Up

The Young and the Restless spoilers reveal that after Chance breaks his promise, Abby will lose her patience. Abby has already opened up to Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) about her frustration with Chance. If Chance misses one more of Dominic’s milestones, Abby could take drastic action.

While some fans wonder if Chance will reopen Ashland’s case, there could be another reason why Chance breaks his promise. It might not have to do with Ashland’s case but Chance’s anger over Victor getting away with a crime. Chance did not take his decision lightly and it will have a troubling effect on him.

Fans have already seen Chance stewing alone while drinking. Perhaps Chance misses an important family event because he can’t get Victor’s deed out of his head.

Y&R Spoilers – Devon Hamilton’s Anger

Soap Opera Digest published a photo showing Devon bonding with Dominic at his first birthday party. Perhaps Chance missed the birthday party after promising Abby he would be there. If so, Abby could threaten divorce.

There is also Devon’s anger toward Chance. Devon never really got over Chance not being there for Mariah Copeland’s (Camryn Grimes) pregnancy or abduction. Devon was also furious with Chance for putting his career ahead of his family. Now you have that unresolved issue along with Devon’s rage at Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic). Maybe Chance not showing up to Dominic’s birthday party is what finally causes Devon to explode.
