The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Adam Newman Was MIA When Chelsea Lawson Collapsed
Viewers of The Young and The Restless will recall that Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) was missing in action when Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) collapsed in their living room. She had dozed off on the couch and awoken with horrific pain in her head. She was set to have surgery to repair the aneurysm in her brain the next morning. Adam had gone out, supposedly to pick up food but made a side trip to attempt to crash the wedding of Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) and Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso).
Meanwhile, Chelsea, alone, tried to stand up but the pain got worse and worse. She managed to make a call to 911 and then collapsed on the floor. Adam, not having even picked up the food – or perhaps leaving it in his car – arrived home in his penthouse to find Chelsea on the floor. The paramedics arrived right after he did. He briefed them on the brain aneurysm and that Chelsea had been scheduled for surgery the next day.
He follows the paramedics to the hospital, but because he is not married to Chelsea, he is not allowed visits in the ICU and is only given limited information about her health status. Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy) comes out and does tell him that the aneurysm burst and she needs emergency surgery, which she does survive. Elena tells Adam he should go home and get some rest because he’s not doing Chelsea any good panicking in the waiting room.
Y&R Spoilers – Adam Newman Gets Bad News And Chelsea Lawson Faces A New Normal After Her Stroke

Adam calls the hospital to talk to Elena in the morning, after a night of fitful sleep. She tells him to come in person. Adam is shocked to find out Chelsea had a stroke, and she is unable to speak and her right side is paralyzed! Adam is afraid – he doesn’t know what to do or how to care for Chelsea. He is desperate to see her but is not allowed due to HIPAA regulations and the two not being married.
He even calls Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) for help pulling some strings, he is so desperate! Victor undoubtedly will be just as shocked and try to help in any way he is able to. But Adam will face a new role – that of caretaker, once Chelsea is home. As anyone who has ever known a stroke patient would know, Chelsea has a long road ahead of her. She will need speech and physical therapy for very many months.
Chelsea’s new normal will be difficult for her to deal with, as well as being difficult for Adam, her friends and family and especially hard on her and Adam’s son Connor Newman (Judah Mackey)! Chelsea will also need help with common everyday tasks such as bathing, fixing her hair and makeup, dressing and undressing, and will likely be in a wheelchair. Depending on whether she is right or left-handed, she may not even be able to write notes to communicate! Adam grew up with a blind mother, but at least she could do everything else. This will be difficult for everyone, to say the least, but most of all for Chelsea!
